St. Luke’s Medical Center Celebrates 122 Years with Surgical Mission in Partnership with Quezon City and Taguig LGUs

Manila, 17 October 2025 – St. Luke’s Medical Center observed its 122nd founding anniversary with a community surgical mission held in partnership with the local governments of Quezon City and Taguig City. The activity, held on October 11, 2025, reaffirmed the institution’s longstanding commitment to make quality healthcare more inclusive and accessible to Filipino families.

The joint effort brought together St. Luke’s medical, nursing, and social service teams with city health offices to provide free surgical procedures for social service patients and their families. The mission included, among others, procedures such as Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with

Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (TAHBSO), Open Cholecystectomy, Total Thyroidectomy, Bilateral Tonsillectomy, Cysto TURP, and Cystoscopy with Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP).

Leading the surgical mission were the President and CEO Dr. Dennis Serrano, Quezon City Medical Director Dr. Deborah Ona, and Global City Medical Director Dr. Tony Perez, with representatives from the Quezon City and Taguig City governments. The activity reflected St. Luke’s shared commitment to bring quality healthcare closer to families who have limited access to medical services.

“Anniversaries remind us why we exist,” shared Dr. Dennis Serrano, President and CEO of St. Luke’s Medical Center. “Working side by side with the local government units allows us to extend care beyond hospital walls and bring healing to more Filipino families.”

First established in 1903 as a free clinic in Tondo by Retired Reverend Charles Henry Brent of the Episcopal Missions, St. Luke’s Medical Center continues to uphold its founding purpose of caring for all. The hospital’s social service initiatives are part of its continuing effort to make quality healthcare more inclusive for the communities it serves.
