Manuel V. Pangilinan-led One Meralco Foundation (OMF), in partnership with B&M Global Services Manila (GSM), has brought clean, reliable solar energy to Libis Elementary School in Antipolo City, Rizal. Through OMF’s School Electrification Program, over 200 students and teachers—many of whom belong to the indigenous Dumagat Remontado tribe—now have the power necessary to support modern, interactive learning in their off-grid classroom.
The newly installed solar photovoltaic (PV) system powers the school’s facilities, computers, and multimedia equipment. By bridging the energy gap for this remote community, the initiative opens doors to digital tools and interactive educational resources that were previously out of reach.

This joint effort highlights how working together can make a lasting difference in remote classrooms. Beyond providing solar power, B&M GSM Executive Director Lorie Barredo and employee-volunteers gave Balik Eskwela school kits with learning materials that students can use.
Barredo said: “This initiative reminds us that development begins with access, and access creates hope. By bringing clean and renewable energy to the school, the Foundation and GSM hope to support a learning environment where children can grow with confidence, curiosity, and courage. We also hope this project encourages the wider community to believe that meaningful change can reach even the most remote places.”

Meralco employees also chipped in through the Meralco Employees Fund for Charity, Inc. (MEFCI) by donating multimedia tools including a television set, a printer, a laptop, and a speaker so they can fully leverage solar energy for interactive learning.
School Principal Jinky Martinez said the project brings light to their classrooms, and it empowers the learners. “With this solar panel, we can now ensure continuous learning even during rainy days, and we can teach our learners the value of renewable energy and environmental care. You didn’t just donate solar panels — you donated hope, learning, and a brighter tomorrow. Thank you for investing in the future of our children. Your kindness truly illuminates their path to quality education,” she said.
Such collaborations are vital to ensure no community is left behind, especially in the age of technology, said OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao.
“When organizations align their resources and purpose, we do more than just build or improve infrastructure—we create opportunities and light up futures. OMF’s partnership with B&M Global Services Manila demonstrates how shared commitment can break down barriers, giving our young learners the tools they need to dream bigger and reach their full potential.”
The turnover was made possible through the support of Libis Elementary School Principal Jinky Martinez; Antipolo City Councilor James Gatlabayan (representing Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III); Dr. Rachel Abejero, Public Schools District Supervisor, DepEd Antipolo City (representing SDS Lerma Flandez); and Dr. Ramil Ginete, Project Development Officer IV (representing Regional Director Charlie Rocafort). Meralco’s Cainta-Masinag-Antipolo Business Center Head Alvenn Jewison Migrino and Rizal Sector Manager Roberto Dizer also joined the ceremonial turnover.
Since 2011, OMF has energized 309 off-grid public schools nationwide, driving its commitment to powering education, enabling digital learning, and unlocking opportunities for students in last-mile communities.
