Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to address electricity theft and pilferage of electrical distribution facilities and materials.

Calsas recently met in a bid to ramp up the joint initiatives as part of an ongoing partnership.
Meralco and PNP are working on stronger coordination to prevent and address incidents involving the theft of electrical facilities and equipment including electric meters and wires. Beyond enforcement, they are also exploring technical training opportunities for PNP electrical engineers and electricians to further strengthen their capabilities in handling cases involving electrical facilities.
Meralco’s Savet underscored company’s efforts to combat the theft of electricity distribution materials, particularly as part of its drive to reduce non-technical system losses and protect the reliability of its distribution network. The PNP, meanwhile, conveyed its appreciation to Meralco for the continued technical support in ensuring that power distribution facilities servicing police camps are well-maintained.
As an active partner in nation-building, Meralco works closely with law enforcement agencies to safeguard public safety, and the integrity and reliability of power service.
