Crews and personnel of Manila Electric Company (Meralco) continue to work non-stop to safely restore power in parts of the distribution utility’s franchise area where service interruptions were reported due to heavy rains and flooding brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat).
Seen in the photo are Meralco crews conducting power restoration works in Valenzuela City. As of 4:00 p.m. today, August 30, around 49,000 customers are affected by service interruptions — of which close to half are in flooded areas. The affected customers are less than 1% of Meralco’s total customers and most of them are located in parts of Cavite, Bulacan, and Metro Manila.

“Our crews are working round-the-clock to attend to electricity service concerns and restore power service to affected areas as soon as possible and once it is safe to do so. We appeal to our customers for their understanding as we prioritize safety while carrying out restoration activities,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.
“We are also reminding everyone to stay away from downed power lines, damaged electrical facilities, and electrical equipment that may have been submerged in floodwaters. Kindly report any hazardous electrical situation to Meralco,” he added.
Customers may report power outages and other electricity-related concerns through Meralco’s official social media pages on Facebook (Meralco) and X (@meralco). They may also text their concerns to 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211 or call the Meralco Hotline at 16211.
