MOVE IT accelerates riders’ professional, personal growth with ‘Tropang May Malasakit’ program

Manila, Philippines, 18 April 2024 — Aligned with its mission to foster sustainable and impactful livelihoods for its rider-partners, homegrown motorcycle taxi provider MOVE IT has launched the “Tropang May Malasakit” Program — an initiative tailored to enhance the welfare and bolster support for the “Kuya and Ate ng Kalsada.”

This comprehensive rider-partner welfare and engagement program offers a healthy cadence of rewards and support services to riders, including health insurance, financial assistance, and access to training and development programs to safeguard their well-being and professional growth.

“Our rider-partners often share a common reality, they are the primary breadwinners for themselves and their families. We are committed to providing comprehensive support for drivers by offering them health insurance, financial assistance, and opportunities for skill development. We believe that having these initiatives in place better equip our rider-partners to attain social security for themselves and their loved ones,” MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto said.

Bridging Financial Gaps, Fostering Social Security

Recognizing the riders’ lack of access to traditional financial institutions and services, MOVE IT has partnered with GrabFinancial Group Philippines to offer the micro-financing product “Ka-Tropa Cash Loan”. This loan, exclusively available to MOVE IT rider-partners, offers accessible financing with flexible repayment terms, providing a practical solution to their financial needs.

Promising quick disbursement as fast as 24 hours, Ka-Tropa Cash Loan serves as a lifeline for rider-partners who need to finance essentials such as tuition fees, vehicle maintenance and repairs, and even entrepreneurial capital. The seamless experience is made possible by the efficient assessment process of application which involves the riding record of the applicant, their earning potential, and credit score with GrabFinance.

The Ka-Tropa Cash Loan has also been thoughtfully designed to offer an easy-pay repayment experience, with flexible payment terms that can be as low as Php50 per day. By opting in for daily automatic deductions, rider-partners get to settle their loans worry-free.

To enhance the confidence of rider-partners and ease their worries while on the road, MOVE IT also tapped Manulife to provide Platinum and Gold-tier riders with health and life insurance of up to P1,000,000. Through this, the Kuya and Ate ng Kalsada are reassured of added support should they face untoward incidents on the road. The Manulife insurance package is on top of the existing free accident and InLife medical coverage, and food and fuel vouchers provided to rider-partners.

MOVE IT has also announced tech updates to its driver app, which are geared at boosting the productivity of rider-partners on the road. One of these exciting updates is the introduction of a visualized Heat Map. This innovative feature identifies high-demand areas, enabling rider-partners to strategically position themselves and improve their booking acceptance rate.

Other technologies highlighted during the event include the Auto-Accept feature, which streamlines the booking process within the driver app, allowing riders to concentrate more on their driving. Another beloved feature by rider-partners is Set Destination, which enables riders to pinpoint where they are headed so they are effectively matched with passengers traveling along the same route.

All of these new tech features are geared at making every minute count for rider-partners to help them optimize their earnings capacity.

“MOVE IT is committed to professionalizing the habal-habal sector by providing top-tier tools and solutions to our valued rider-partners and Tropang May Malasakit is just one of the programs that allows us to fully support their long-term journey towards giving their families a better future,” Jacinto said.

During the same conference, Jacinto emphasized MOVE IT’s unwavering commitment to the safety of its passengers and rider-partners. This commitment is particularly evident in the Malasakit sa Biyahe Program, a focused initiative under the broader Tropang May Malasakit. MOVE IT is enhancing its dedication to safety by introducing new road safety features, establishing more efficient reporting mechanisms, and implementing comprehensive skills assessment and development programs.
