SN Aboitiz Power-Magat (SNAP-Magat) turned 18 on April 26, 2025, marking almost two decades of generating clean and sustainable energy and powering communities’ growth and development. The plant held an official anniversary celebration for its employees on April 25, aptly themed “Standing Strong and Powering On”.
Since 2007, SNAP-Magat has made significant contributions to the Philippine energy landscape through its 388-megawatt (MW) Magat hydroelectric power plant; the 8.5-MW run-of-river (ROR) Maris hydro plant; and, as of January 2024, the 24-MW Magat battery energy storage system (BESS) phase 1.
It has also continually demonstrated commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community investment development programs (CIDP). Over the last 18 years, a total of 667 CIDP projects have been implemented so far, representing a cumulative community investment of approximately PhP364.5 million. In 2024 alone, 35 projects were funded, amounting to PhP11.4 million.
SNAP-Magat has also stayed true to its value of innovation, evident in its recent milestones: the groundbreaking of the Magat BESS phase 2, and the inauguration of its Integrated Remote Operations Center (iROC). The new 16-MW BESS facility is scheduled for completion by next year, while the iROC provides real-time, centralized monitoring and control of SNAP’s five hydroelectric facilities.
“We are incredibly proud of the last 18 years, and we look forward to accomplishing more in the next 18,” said SNAP President and CEO Joseph Yu. “All these years of resilience and growth have only ever strengthened our commitment to powering a more sustainable Philippines.”
As the company looks to the future, it remains dedicated to its mission of growth, excellence, and sustainability, steadfast in pursuing and delivering better and more resilient energy solution services.
