The Mapúa University E.T. Yuchengco School of Business in collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), has launched its dual degree pathways to ASU to increase the accessibility of international education for Filipino students. The program was approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and serves as Mapúa University’s first transnational higher education initiative to enable greater access to international education.
The collaboration enables students to earn dual degrees and gain advanced entry into ASU’s master’s programs in four years while having the opportunity to study on-campus at ASU or online. This initiative aims to create greater opportunities for more learners in the Philippines to access world-class education locally and abroad. The collaboration with Arizona State University, the number 1 most innovative university in the U.S. for nine consecutive years, ranked by U.S. News and World Report 2016-2024, will ensure each of its students access to the best and industry-relevant curriculum, providing students with a unique opportunity to pursue overseas education.
“The partnership between Arizona State University and Mapúa University formed in the spring of 2022 from a shared vision that education is a fundamental human right and that all universities have a responsibility to be of greater service to the world,” said Julia Rosen, Vice President for Global Academic Initiatives at Arizona State University. “Our partnership with Mapúa is not a traditional university agreement or a branch campus. It’s a multi-tiered, deeply embedded institutional collaboration between two forward-thinking institutions. Through this groundbreaking collaboration, Arizona State University is honored to contribute to the development of future leaders in the Philippines and to foster international collaboration between our two countries.”
New Pathways to Global Competitiveness
The program operates on a 3+1 system, where Mapúa University students earn their bachelor’s degree in the first three years in the Philippines from the E.T. Yuchengco School of Business before enrolling in ASU to finish a second bachelor’s degree. Students can opt to transfer to ASU campus in the U.S. or enroll in ASU Online to complete the dual degree program. For the accelerated master’s degree pathway, students can achieve a graduate-level degree in just five years instead of the usual 6 to 8 years, with flexible learning setups to fast-track their entry into the professional world.
Degree programs that are part of the dual degree pathways between the E.T. Yuchengco School of Business and Arizona State University are:
- Mapúa University’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration leading to ASU’s Master of Global Management
- Mapúa University Bachelor of Science in Business Administration leading to Thunderbird’s Master of Leadership and Management

These ASU degrees are selected based on the high program credentials that will set the Mapúa students apart. For example, Thunderbird School of Global Management BS in International Trade was ranked the world’s number one international trade program by QS International Trade Rankings for the second consecutive year in 2024. Together with Mapúa University’s rich traditions of academic excellence, students can expect an enriching learning experience that equips them for success.
Growing Opportunities for Filipino Learners
These programs’ pathway to ASU offers students the possibility of transferring to an ASU campus in the U.S. for a year or completing their degree via ASU Online. Students who opt to spend their final degree in the U.S. can work and live in the U.S. for up to three years upon graduation under the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program.
The OPT program offers graduates an opportunity to build networks and enhance career prospects in the U.S. Alongside finishing with two degrees from prestigious US and Philippine universities, gaining invaluable work experience abroad can help professionals gain distinct competitive advantages that set them apart in their chosen fields in the country.
“Education plays an important role in preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world. Our collaboration with ASU further enables our learners to thrive in this era of rapid technological transformation,” says Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, President & CEO of Mapúa University. “We are proud to be the first to launch this pathways program in collaboration with ASU to open doors to students who desire to make meaningful change both here and abroad. “This is a positive endorsement from ASU, a highly prestigious university in the U.S., endorsing Mapúa University as a partner to deliver part of the degree program. It’s a testament to the high quality that Mapúa holds. We at Mapúa are extremely proud of it.”
