In line with their commitment to supporting literature and education, Book Nook recently held a learning session titled “Learning Baybayin with Howie Severino” with the goal of educating Filipinos on the history and cultural relevance of the baybayin writing system. The event was held last September 4 at SM Aura’s Book Nook, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Around 150 attendees composed of students and representatives from STI College Global City, University of Makati, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and curious mallgoers joined the learning session. The participants demonstrated a strong desire to explore and understand our culture, highlighting that a passion for learning about our heritage endures even in modern times.
Shown in the photo is veteran Filipino journalist Howie Severino during the event, whose presentation was a masterclass in storytelling, blending the rich history of baybayin with his own experiences as a journalist dedicated to uncovering and preserving the Filipino narrative.
By putting a spotlight on baybayin, Severino ensured that our cultural roots remain strong and vibrant.
Through the event, Book Nook underscored the importance of preserving our cultural heritage, by sparking interest and passion in our rich history and identity through the wisdom and storytelling prowess of one of the country’s most esteemed journalists.
