33 new property projects vie for FIABCI-Ph plum awards

While still on an uphill climb towards recovery in 2022, the property and real estate sector
continues to pump vigor into the economy with big-ticket projects being rolled out across
the archipelago.

Such heroic efforts can be gleaned from the 33 new property projects vying for the
2022 Property & Real Estate Excellence Awards, a prestigious event held annually by the
Philippine chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI-Ph).

The announcement and awarding of winners, however, was moved to February 21 in
the wake of the spate of calamities that rocked the country last year, according to
FIABCI-Ph Chairman and Special Envoy Dr. Reghis M. Romero II.

“Up for grabs are gold and silver awards in each of the 15 categories – residential high-
rise, mid-rise, low-rise, sustainable development, office, masterplan, environmental, retail,
public infrastructure, industrial, economic/mid-cost housing, affordable, hotel, convention,
and specialized/purpose-built projects,” Dr. Romero II said. “From among the winners will
be chosen the Property Developer of the Year and the Property Man of the Year awards.”

Vying in the residential high rise category are Robinsons Land Corp.’s Westin Manila
Sonata Place in Pasig City; Avida Land Inc.’s Avida Towers Vireo at BGC in Taguig City
and Avida Towers Aspira in Cagayan De Oro City in Misamis Oriental, and Megaworld’s
Arcovia Palazzo in Pasig and VION Tower in Makati City.

In the mid-rise residential category, competing are Filinvest Alabang Inc.’s Botanika
Nature Residences in Muntinlupa City and Avida Land Inc.’s Serin East in Tagaytay City;
and in the low rise are Avida’s Northdale Settings Alviera in Porac, Pampanga and Avida
Iloilo Village in Pavia, Iloilo, and Aboitiz Land Inc.’s Villages at Lipa in the LIMA Estate
and special economic zone in Lipa City and Malvar town in Batangas province.

Nominated to the office category are Filinvest Alabang Inc.’s Parkway Corporate
Center in Filinvest City, Muntinlupa; Filinvest REIT Corp.’s Filinvest Axis Tower One, also
in Filinvest City; and Megaworld’s One Paseo in Arcovia City, Pasig.

In the retail category, nominees are Megaworld’s Alabang West Parade in Las Pinas
City and McDonald’s The Upper East in Bacolod City.

For the sustainable development category, three are in a tight race – Filinvest Alabang
Inc.’s Filinvest City in Muntinlupa, Filinvest REIT Corp.’s Filinvest Axis Tower One, and
Imperial Homes’ Via Verde Trece Martires in Cavite.

Also tightly contested is the top spot in the masterplan category, with five property
giants competing – the Aboitiz Land Inc.’s Seafront Residences and Landco Pacific Corp.’s
Club Laiya, both in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas; Megaworld’s Maple Grove in General Trias,
Cavite, The Upper East in Bacolod City; and Landco Pacific Corp.’s Calatagan South Beach
in Calatagan, Batangas.

Meanwhile, Seafront Residences is also nominated to the environmental category,
while Aboitiz InfraCapital’s Lima Estate emerges as the lone nominee in the industrial.
Similarly, the affordable housing category drew one nominee – the Bria Homes in
Trece Martires City, Cavite. So did the business building category – the Filinvest Alabang
Inc.’s Parkway Corporate Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

The same holds true for the hotel category, the Belmont Hotel in Cebu City; for
convention category, The Boracay New Coast Convention Center; and for purpose
built/specialized project category, the BMMC (Bacolod-Murcia Milling Company) Train in
Bacolod, all from Megaworld Corp.

In the public infrastructure category are two nominees – the Sto. Tomas Health Facility
of the local government unit of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga and the Farmers/Fisherfolks Training
Center in Malolos of the provincial government of Bulacan.
`
All nominated projects are inspected and rated on site by members of the FIABCI-Ph
technical committee and architects from the United Architects of the Philippines before
getting evaluated by the board of judges.

In 2021, Robinsons Land Corporation and Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. topped the list
of winners. Robinsons bagged two golds with its president and chief executive officer
Frederick D. Go receiving the most coveted Property Man of the Year award, while Vista
Land also won two golds and the Property Developer of the Year award.

Also multiple gold winners were Megaworld and Avida Land. The other gold winners
were Arthaland Corporation, Galeria Renascimento Commercial Enterprises, the Provincial
Government of Bulacan, Cathay Land Inc., Fiesta Communities Inc. and Pueblo de Oro
Development Corporation.

Winning the FIABCI-Ph Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards makes the
winners eligible to compete in the FIABCI International Prix d’Excellence Awards, which is
globally regarded as the “Oscars of Real Estate” and whose criteria involve excellence in all
technical, environmental, social, economic and financial aspects of the project.

Constituting FIABCI’s international membership are 48 national and multinational
chapters, 90 professional associations, 95 public and private academic institutions, over 2,300 regular members, and around a million associate members in more than 70 countries across the globe.
