The Implementation of 30% Increase for the Select Case Rates, Other Benefits for Adjustments, New Contact Information and the Launch of PhilHealth Media Center
PhilHealth is celebrating it’s 29th Year Anniversary. The entire month of February is National Health Insurance Month. The theme is “Damang dama ko ang benepisyo” is a manifestation of PhilHealth’s response to the call of President Ferdinand “Bongbong’” Marcos, Jr. for better health insurance coverage for all Filipinos.
PhilHealth has started implementing important enhancements in benefits last year 2023, such as the expansion and the institutionalization of 156 Hemodialysis sessions for patients with chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5, Increase in coverage for Ischemic from P28,000.00 to P76,000.00 and Hemorrhagic Stroke from P38,000.00 to P80,000.00 and High-Risk Pneumonia, and the groundbreaking Outpatient Mental Health Package.
For this year 2024, PhilHealth lined up more benefit packages for expansion to support the PBBM vision of Bagong Pilipinas. PhilHealth continue to strengthen, to resolve, to invigorate healthcare delivery systems under the thrust of “Pinalawak at mga Bagong Benepisyo para sa Mamamayang Filipino”.
On the 30% Increase for Select Case Rates:
Last February 14, 2024, which coincides with Valentine’s Day and also the Founding Anniversary of PhilHealth 29th years to be exact, the 30% increase in the coverage rate of most of benefits packages too effect. This will restore substantial coverage affected by health inflation. It is a timely move for efficiency and effectively strengthen cased-based payment, which will have a significant impact to all members coverage in terms of financial protection. “Kung tataas ang benepisyo, bababa ang gagastusin sa pagpapagamot at mas mararamdaman ng miyembro ang benepisyo nila mula sa PhilHealth”.
This is the very first time that there will be across-the-board increase since the all-case rate payment scheme was introduce 10 years ago. The PhilHealth Board of Directors approved the 30% inflation adjustment in case rates and for making PhilHealth benefits relevant and responsive to the medical needs of the Filipino people. This move will greatly help lowering the out-of-pocket expenses of the members, if not, to wiped out through zero Balance Billing or “Walang Bayad” policy if admitted in PhilHealth ward of Hospitals.
The 30% adjustment excludes those that have already been adjusted in the last 5 years, such as Hemodialysis, Stroke and Pneumonia and Outpatient Mental Health package which is recently re-costed and schedule for further adjustments.
In view of the full list of the adjusted case rate can be viewed on the PhilHealth website. (www.philhealth.gov.ph) One example is the CS or Caesarian Section delivery from P19,000.00 to P24,700.00 effective last February 14, 2024.
Another Case is Breast Cancer from P100,000.00 to P1.4Million Benefit package.
More Benefits enhancements for roll out this 2024.
PhilHealth continuously working on the enhancement plan, targeting to release more policies and guidelines for several new benefits and enhancement of some exiting benefit packages. There are more benefits to expect this year, proof that PhilHealth is committed to provide all adequate and more responsive benefit packages for all members deserve.
On the Implementation of 5% premium adjustment
As mandated in Section 10 of the Universal Health Care Act 2019, PhilHealth will implement this last 1% Increase in premium contribution that take effect last January of this year thereby adjusting the premium to 5% with an income ceiling of P100,000.00.
Even if a law will say to suspend the collection of the said increase, PhilHealth will avid by it and rest assured that all benefit enhancements will still continue.
