Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has reinforced its North Port Substation in Tondo, Manila, further strengthening the operational safety of its distribution network and enhancing service reliability for customers.
The project covered the upgrading of 10 power circuit breakers and 19 disconnect switches from 40 kiloamperes (kA) to 63 kA, as well as the strengthening and improvement of control cables and associated civil works. This initiative enables the existing 115-kilovolt (kV) substation to withstand higher fault current levels, thereby improving system reliability and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of electricity.
Among the major customers benefitting from the project are Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, Tondo Medical Center, LRT stations, Mapúa University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.
Meralco is committed to pour in investments to modernize and strengthen its distribution network, ensuring a more resilient electric system that can support the growing needs of its over eight million customers.
