Sixty-two entries will advance to the 3-cock semi-finals on May 24, Friday–the first day of the semi-final round–after surviving the 2-cock elimination round of this year’s second edition of World Slasher Cup 9-Cock Invitational Derby at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Moving on to the next round are competitors with 2-0 record, while those who scored at least a point during the first round elimination will stay in contention for the title.
Among the top fighters battling it out in today’s semi-finals are Jaime Lim, RBM/Hilbert Crisistomo, Engr. Nemencio Quimado/Doc Nilo Magtibay/Niño Lorenzo Tobiano, Rey/ Boy Nita/Haponesa, Boyet Plaza/Malvin Cordeta, Mike Romulo/Owen Medina, Aries Alvarez/Jun Durano, Felix Trebol, Nestor Mercado/Lito Orillaza, Raymond Dela Cruz, Bulldog, Frank Berin/Jaronila/Baby Boy Singson, and Balong/RSF, all with 2-0 records each after the elimination round.
Allan Villegas/Obet Bello, Joemarie Bantillo/Nico Rodelas/Rey Arenas, EP/Jimmy Rimando, Bobby Fernandez/ James Uy, and Presley De Jesus will also move on to the next round after scoring 1.5 points in the elimination round. Other fighters who scored 1-1 records each will also advance to the semi-finals.
Today’s semi-finals will feature 98 fights starting at 12 noon.
The winners of the semi-finals will advance to the four-cock pre-finals on May 27 and grand finals on May 28 wherein a new World Slasher Cup champion will be crowned.
This year’s World Slasher Cup has a total of 165 entries.
